Hospice UK is implementing a new grants management system. All in-progress or partially completed grant applications will need to be submitted on the current online system before 17:00 on Friday, 24 November.
After this date, all new applications will need to be completed and submitted using the new system.

Partially completed applications
Q. I have partially completed my grant application. Will I be able to retrieve it after 24 November?
A. No, after 17:00 on Friday 24 November all partially completed / in-progress applications will be deleted. If you have started an application before 24 November, you must complete it and submit it online before 17:00 on Friday 24 November. After this date/time all in-progress / partially completed applications will be lost.

Q. I can’t submit my application before 24 November, what do I do?
A. If you are unable to complete and submit your grant application before 17:00 on 24 November, you should wait until the new system is live on our website on 4 December. At this point you can start, complete, and submit a grant application on the new system.
Can I make changes after 24 November?
Q. I can submit my application before 24 November, but can I make changes after this date?
A. No, once you have submitted your application it will be transferred to the new system. You will not have access to the application to edit it. If you need to amend anything you will need to contact the Grants Team.

A. Hospice UK is committed to improving it’s grant processes. The new system will allow us to provide a better service and will allow a smoother application and reporting process for grantees.

A. There is never an easy time to implement an upgrade of this nature. Implementing a completely new grants system, along with its online application and reporting capabilities, is a significant project. We chose to do this right now in part due to an incompatibility with our old system that comes into force after December 2023.
When will the new system be live?

A. The new grant system will be live on our website from Monday, 4 December. However, you will still be able to access each grant programme’s information and criteria, along with a PDF version of the application questions. You can use these to help you prepare your application.
When will I know the outcome of my application?
Q. When will I know the outcome of my Bursary or Professional Development Grant application?
A. Applications for a Bursary or Professional Development Grant that are submitted before 24 November will be assessed in the usual way, you will be notified of a decision with 30 days of your submission. We hope to turn this around faster if we can. Applications submitted on the new system after 4 December will be assessed by the Grants Team as usual and you will be notified of a decision with 30 days of your submission.
When is the decision made on Dying Matters Grant?
Q. I’ve applied for a Dying Matters Community Grant, when will I know the decision on funding?
A. The deadline for submitting a Dying Matters Grant application is 17:00 on Friday, 24 November, once you have submitted your application, it will automatically be transferred to the new grants system. Applicants for a Dying Matters Community Grant will be informed whether or not they have been successful by end January 2024.
When is the decision made on Care Home Grant?

A. Applications for a Hospice Care Home grant submitted before 24 November will be assessed in the usual way, you will be notified of a decision with 30 days of your submission. A. Yes, this is because the current Grants Portal, which you use to access your online account, will cease to function after 24 November. You will need to create a new online user account after 4 December. Full details of how to do that will be provided.
Will the new system delay decisions?
Q. Will the new system delay a decision on my application?
A. No, we still aim to assess Bursaries and Professional Development Grants in the usual way and communicate decisions on funding within 30 days of receiving your application. Applicants for a Dying Matters Community Grant will be informed whether or not they have been successful by end January 2024.
