About the programme

The 'Building on the Best' programme provided support, knowledge and leadership. This enabled everyone in hospital approaching end of life, and their loved ones, to receive high quality care that respected their wishes and needs.

We worked by building on the existing end of life care programmes through the experience and influence of Hospice UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and other partners in each of the nations. In England we worked with NHS England, NHS Improvement and 10 Acute Trusts.

Each of the trusts developed posters to share their learning. Below you can watch their 'elevator pitches' at the Improving EOLC conference, and download their posters. The programme took place between March 2016 and March 2018
