A new telephone support service providing advice to the public during the Covid-19 pandemic launches today at Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.
The helpline has been developed in direct response to the pandemic and the challenges people in the region are experiencing as a result.
Claire Towns, CEO of Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “We have set up the telephone and online advice service for members of the public, carers and care home staff to access during these unprecedented times. This service aims to provide timely, practical and compassionate support for anyone who needs help or guidance with practical advice, advance care planning, emotional and spiritual care, support in the last days and hours of life and clinician advice where required.
“We are committed to serving our community at their time of need and are aware that many people will require additional guidance, especially when caring for people approaching the end of life.”
The helpline is part of the extensive work Mary Stevens Hospice is doing to help provide care and guidance to more people at their time of need, in partnership with Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group. Based at the hospice, the advice and support line will be available 7 days a week, between 8 am – 4 pm, operated by members of the hospice team.
