The Scottish Hospice Leadership group has today announced that the Scottish Government is providing a £16.9 million support package for Scottish hospices.
Responding to the announcement, our Policy and Advocacy Manager for Scotland, Helen Malo, says:
"We welcome this funding from the Scottish Government. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on hospices' ability to fundraise at a time when communities have relied on their services more than ever.
"Hospices are a vital part of Scotland's health and social care system. The funding will allow them to continue to provide vital palliative and end of life care to patients nearing the end of their lives, as well as bereavement support to families and communities across Scotland."
The Chair of the Scottish Hospice Leadership Group, Rhona Baillie, said: "I am delighted to announce a £16.9 million support package from the Scottish Government for Scottish Hospices. Hospices have continued to deliver the highest quality of care to our communities during the pandemic."
