Hospice UK’s grants partnership with St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation heads into another year – aiming to support the provision of palliative and end of life care to people living in rural and remote communities across the UK.
Allocating £500,000 to projects across the UK, this new tranche of funding will help improve the lives of thousands of people approaching the end of their life.
Grants will be distributed to support the provision of palliative and end of life care to people living in rural and remote communities across the UK.
This focus has been developed following Hospice UK’s report Equality in Hospice and End of Life Care, which states that most hospices and specialist palliative care units are located near cities, resulting in greater challenges in terms of access for remote and rural communities.
The partnership between Hospice UK and St James’s Place Charitable Foundation, which began in 2004, originally funded a three-year programme to develop and expand hospice care services for conditions other than cancer.
Hospice UK’s Head of Grants, Karl Benn said: “We are proud to partner with St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation, one of our longest-standing and most valued partners. Together, our partnership has driven forward innovative and pioneering service development in hospices across the UK.
“Focusing the grant programmes on specific themes allows the funding to be strategic and effective, bringing about significant change in practice with measurable impact. We thank St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation on behalf of hospices across the country for your generosity and commitment.”
Throughout the partnership, St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has made huge contributions to areas of hospice care, with previous themes focussing on Heart Failure Care, Family Carers, Lung Health, Dementia and Rehabilitative Palliative Care.
Catherine Ind, Head of St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Hospice UK over many years.
“The partnership has served to give us valuable insight into the challenges and needs of the hospice sector, so we can allocate funding in the right way to achieve better outcomes. And it has also enabled us to support innovative developments to improve hospice care in a sustained way.”
The next St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation grants programme launched on the 29 April 2022; with grants of up to £40,000 available. The deadline for applications is 17:00 on 20 June 2022.
