Nearly 100 hospice professionals will benefit from a new professional development programme launched today by Hospice UK and Corndel.
The Hospice Data Academy will equip 96 people across 64 hospices in England with the skills and knowledge to make the best possible use of data in their roles. With colleagues from service provision, fundraising and HR, the programme will help hospices to improve the care they provide for local communities.
The programme is possible thanks to leading workplace training provider, Corndel and its partners, who have gifted more than £1 million worth of their government apprenticeship levy.
“It’s fantastic that so many hospice professionals will have the chance to join the Hospice Data Academy, thanks to Corndel and their partners.”
“We know that making the best possible use of data is fundamental to the future of hospice services. Whether analysing patient data, driving improvements in equality and inclusion, or looking at trends in fundraising, it’s so important that hospice professionals have the skills they need.”
“We’re very grateful for Corndel’s support, and that of their partners who are kindly donating a part of their apprenticeship levy. I’m looking forward to seeing the difference it makes for hospices across England.”
Rowena Lovell, Director of Member Engagement and Support at Hospice UK
Part of Corndel and Imperial College’s Data-Driven Professional Programme, the Academy will run for 14 months. It’s one of a range of professional development opportunities offered by Hospice UK, which also include bursaries and professional development grants for colleagues working in a number of roles.
"We are delighted to be supporting Hospice UK to enable local hospices across the country to access fully funded apprenticeship programmes.
“The high number of applicants for the Imperial College and Corndel Data-Driven Professional apprenticeship programmes speaks volumes of the need for increased data skills and confidence across the sector."
Ali Terrington, Charity Partnerships Director at Corndel
