One Day is an amazing event, this year raising an incredible amount of money that will no doubt have a long-lasting impact, well beyond our partnership.

Tracey Bleakley, CEO of Hospice UK

The bank dedicated its 15th annual One Day fundraising campaign to Hospice UK, its UK Charity of the Year for 2020 and 2021. Deutsche Bank employees were invited to pledge a day’s salary to the cause, which was matched by the bank to double their impact.

Across the two years, both One Day events have raised over £1.6 million, a record amount for a single partner as part of the Charity of the Year programme.

Senior Deutsche Bank staff joined celebrity supporters, including Simon Callow OBE and Robert Peston, in campaign films that encouraged employees to donate to One Day. Colleagues were able to support the campaign online if working from home, or in-person in the office where they were greeted with balloons, campaign branding and sweet treats to celebrate the day.

Deutsche Bank’s Lareena Hilton, Global Head of Brand & CSR said: “The generosity shown by our employees on One Day is remarkable.

“The £1.6 million total raised for Hospice UK over two years through the campaign smashes previous achievements and will help ensure our partnership can make a transformative impact on the end of life sector for years to come.

“I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved together with employees and look forward to seeing the ongoing impact our partnership has on the charity’s work.”

As well as supporting Hospice UK with two One Day events, generous Deutsche Bank employees have taken part in a host of additional fundraising events.

Hospice UK CEO, Tracey Bleakley said: “For the past two years, Hospice UK has benefitted hugely from the support and generosity of employees at Deutsche Bank.

“It has been an amazing partnership and we are so grateful to see such dedication from so many people across the business. One Day is an amazing event, this year raising over £939,000 of vital funding for end of life care, an incredible amount of money that will no doubt have a long-lasting impact, well beyond our partnership.”

Hospice UK estimates that 1 in 4 people with end of life needs in the UK are currently not getting the right care. With an ageing population with increasingly complex needs, this challenge is only set to increase without more action being taken.

The funds raised through One Day will help Hospice UK to continue its work with care providers and with the government to ensure that everyone can get expert end of life care when they need it.

Deutsche Bank’s One Day will help tackle inequalities within the hospice sector to open care up to everyone, while also helping hospices secure a financially sustainable future, and supporting the frontline staff and volunteers who care for us when we need it most.

“The money raised by Deutsche Bank will help Hospice UK ensure thousands of people across the country receive the care and treatment they deserve, no matter who they are, where they are or why they are ill. Thank you to Deutsche Bank for another amazing One Day!” Tracey added.
